6 Signs You’re Buying High Quality Weed

by mrboli

Not sure what makes weed high quality? Let’s fix that.

Shopping for weed can be difficult if you don’t know what you’re looking for. But if you use all your senses and a bit of intuition, you’ll know exactly which weed is worth smoking. And pro tip: Good weed is also called “dank” or “top-shelf”!

Keep reading to learn 6 signs of high-quality weed.

1. Testing

If you have the ability to buy lab-tested marijuana, do it. This ensures that the product meets a certain quality standard. It also decreases the likelihood of there being contaminants like bugs or mold.

And if it provides you with an expiry date, check to see that it hasn’t gone bad.

2. Look

High-grade cannabis will appear dense and sticky rather than dry and seedy. It should also be vibrant in color with a deep green bud and purple or orange hairs.

And if you’re ordering it online, look at pictures of the strain first. For example, Platinum Buds dispensary provides you with pictures of each strain and customer reviews. That way, you can see the cannabis quality and verify that’s what you’ll actually be getting.

3. Trichomes

Top-shelf weed will contain lots of frosty crystals on the bud and leaves, which are called trichomes. Trichomes give weed its particular smell and indicate the level of THC present. So the more crystals you see, the more potent the bud.

4. Smell

Good cannabis should smell delightfully pungent with a variety of aromas. And remember those trichomes? They contain what are called terpenes, which are aromatic compounds that give weed its scent and taste.

But if your bud smells like mildew, straw, or the bad type of skunky, that weed is not worth smoking. It’s either gone bad or there are no terpenes to speak of.

5. Feel

High-value weed will be sticky and spongy to the touch without being wet. Poor weed will feel dry or brittle to the touch, which means it will burn too fast when you try to smoke it.

A good stem should also be easy to break apart with a crisp snap. A bad stem will either crumble in your hands or tear apart without that satisfying snap.

6. Taste

If you think your weed is safe enough to smoke, go for it. It should taste fresh and pack a flavor punch. You should stop smoking if it tastes earthy or bitter in any way.

And if you can’t tell by the taste, think about the throat feel. High-grade weed will feel smooth while low-grade weed will feel harsh on the throat.

Now You Know the 6 Signs of High-Quality Weed

While dispensaries usually won’t rip you off, you can now deduce whether or not you got a bad batch. But when in doubt, ask a worker at the dispensary or a seasoned friend for help. Now get high on some high-quality weed!
