The Pros and Cons of Living in Green Bay, Wisconsin

September 24, 2021September 24, 2021 by mrboli

Living in Green Bay, Wisconsin comes with a boatload of opportunities. The housing market is brimming; the job market is fruitful; the cultural activities abound.

With a population of a little over 100,000, Green Bay is actually the third-largest city in Wisconsin (behind Milwaukee and Madison).

Whether you’re embarking on a long-distance move to this glorious city or something more local, moving to Wisconsin will always be a smart choice. Here’s what you need to know.

The Pros

Let’s start with the pros because they far outweigh the cons. You’ll quickly begin to see that moving to Green Bay is the right choice.

Low Cost of Living

The median listing price for a home in Green Bay is $215,000. Of course, there are desirable homes for far less (and far more). But, the point is, you’ll receive a lot of real estate within this affordable price range.

Take a scroll through https://www.househuntersofgreenbay.com/ to see all the beauties on the market today. With such a hot market, post-pandemic, this is an exciting time to get in on the action.

Cultural Excitement

Living in Wisconsin makes everyone an instant Packers fan. But, in Green Bay, you’ll be able to feel the excitement that comes with game day.

Of course, the cultural delights extend way beyond the city’s iconic stadium. With hundreds of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and museums, it could take your entire lifetime to see them all.

Employment Opportunities

In 2020, the national unemployment rate was 8.1%. But, Green Bay managed to float below that average at 6%.

The average national salary is a little over $50,000. Meanwhile, Green Bay boasts an average salary of $47,000. So, the economy is right on point if you’re looking for stable employment that can sustain your beautiful new home.

The Cons

We’re not sure the following items are cons. They’re more a matter of personal preference. Still, these may be contributing factors in your move to Green Bay. Let’s take a look.

Urban Density

Green Bay is a modern city. As such, it can have a dense urban feel to it. It’s fast-paced, and people live and work closely together.

If this is not your cup of tea, then you might consider that to be a negative. Still, there are plenty of walking trails all around the city. So, nature is never too far away.

Environmental Detriments

With a dense population like this, there’s also bound to be a bit of air pollution, due to all the vehicle emissions. This comes with any big city, however. It’s just something to think about if you often have the environment on your mind.

There will also be noise and light pollution. So, perhaps you won’t see the same number of stars in the sky as an open field in Alaska. But, you will see plenty of restaurant and shop lights that you’ll enjoy frequenting!

Living In Green Bay Is Right For You

Living in Green Bay is a wise choice for anyone who wants to experience a low cost of living, low crime, a great school system, and plenty of cultural activity.

As you make the move to one of the greatest cities in America, we hope you’ll keep coming back to visit our blog. It’s continually being updated, with your success in mind.
